TABULATION OF DYNAMIC STRAIN DATA ON A GIRDER SLAB BRIDGE STRUCTURE DURING SEVEN CONTINUOUS DAYS

THE TABULATION OF DATA IS PRESENTED FROM A LEADING HISTORY FIELD TEST ON A SIMPLE SPAN STEEL STRINGER STRUCTURE LOCATED ON ROUTE 301 IN MARYLAND. THE DATA ARE PRESENTED IN THE FORM OF STRESS HISTOGRAMS WHICH ARE RELATED TO FIVE MAJOR TRUCK TYPES. DATA RESULTING FROM SEVEN DAYS OF CONTINUOUS SAMPLING OF STRAINS, CLASSIFYING AND WEIGHING OF TRUCKS ARE PRESENTED. SOME STRAINS IN THE TRANSVERSE BOTTOM SLAB REINFORCEMENT ARE ALSO GIVEN. NO EVALUATION OF THE DATA IS MADE. THE MAXIMUM STRESS RANGES AT MIDSPAN IN THE GIRDERS WERE 6.25 KSI, WHILE THE MAXIMUM RECORDED REINFORCING BAR STRESSES WERE 9.25 KSI. THE MEAN STRESSES WERE MUCH LOWER. /BPR/
