NUCLEAR MAGNETIC RESONANCE STUDIES OF THE WATER IN HARDENED CEMENT PASTE

AN ANALYSIS OF NUCLEAR MAGNETIC RESONANCE DATA ON THE STATE OF WATER ON ADSORBENTS AND IN POROUS MATERIALS REVEALS THAT THIS TECHNIQUE IS SUFFICIENTLY SENSITIVE TO DISTINGUISH DIFFERENT DEGRESS OF WATER MOBILITY IN SUCH SYSTEMS. IT WAS CONCLUDED THAT THE EVAPORABLE WATER IN PORTLAND CEMENT PASTES EQUILIBRATED AT VARIOUS RELATIVE HUMIDITIES UP TO 70% AT ROOM TEMPERATURE IS DIFFERENT FROM AND LESS MOBILE THAN PHYSICALLY ADSORBED WATER, AND THAT THIS EVAPORABLE WATER HAS THE PROPERTIES OF THE WATER IN ZEOLITIES OR THE INTERLAYER WATER IN SWELLING CLAYS. /PCA/
