PASTE HYDRATION OF BETA-DICALCIUM SILICATE, TRICALCIUM SILICATE, AND ALITE

THE CALCIUM OXIDE/SILICON OXIDE RATIO OF THE STABLE TOBERMORITE GEL HYDRATION PRODUCT WAS FOUND TO INCREASE AS THE WATER-SOILDS RATIO DECREASED, BUT WAS NOT APPRECIABLY INFLUENCED BY THE FINENESS OF THE ORIGINAL UNHYDRATED SILICATE. HEAT OF SOLUTION DATA WERE OBTAINED AND HEAT OF HYDRATION VALUES CALCULATED. THE EFFECTS OF SURFACE AREA, CALCIUM OXIDE/SILICON OXIDE RATIO, AND WATER CONTENT WERE CONSIDERED IN THE CALCULATION. THE CALCULATED VALUES OF THE SURFACE ENERGY AND THE HEAT OF HYDRATION OF TOBERMORITE GEL WERE IN GOOD AGREEMENT WITH PREVIOUSLY OBTAINED VALUES. /PCA/
