PROGRAMMED ANALYSIS OF AXIAL AND BENDING DESIGN STRESSES FOR RIGIDLY-CONNECTED THREE-SPAN CONTINUOUS HIGHWAY-BRIDGE WARREN TRUSSES

A SOLUTION FOR ALL GENUINE STRESSES IN RIGIDLY-CONNECTED HIGHWAY-BRIDGE TRUSSES UNDER ALL GRAVITY LOADS HAS BEEN PRESENTED THROUGH THREE PREVIOUS REPORTS FROM SOUTH DAKOTA UNDER THE DIRECTION OF DR. SHU-TIEN LI' ENERGY METHOD FOR ANALYZING ALL STRESSES IN RIGID TRUSSES; AND A NEW MATRIX- ENERGY METHOD FOR ANALYZING ALL STRESSES IN RIGIDLY- CONNECTED HIGHWAY-BRIDGE TRUSSES, VOLUMES 1 AND 2. THE PURPOSE OF THIS WORK IS TO PROGRAM THE ENTIRE ANALYSIS IN THE FORTRAN LANGUAGE FOR ELECTRONIC DIGITAL COMPUTERS. THIS PROGRAM IS FOR ANY THROUGH, SYMMETRICAL, THREE-SPAN, WARREN- TYPE, CONTINUOUS, HIGHWAY-BRIDGE TRUSS OF ANY CONFIGURATION. THE PROGRAM IS DIVIDED INTO THREE PHASES' I, FROM THE INPUT DATA TO THE SIMULTANEOUS EQUATIONS; AND II, FROM THE SOLUTION OF THE SIMULTANEOUS EQUATIONS; AND III, FROM THE SOLUTION VECTORS TO THE FINAL MAXIMUM AND MINIMUM DESIGN STRESSES FOR EACH MEMBER OF THE TRUSS. THESE STRESSES ARE DUE TO AASHO GROUP I LOADING. FOR LARGER COMPUTERS PHASE I, II, AND III CAN BE RUN IN ONE LONG CONTINUOUS PROGRAM BY ELIMINATING THE OUTPUT-INPUT STATEMENTS LINKING THE PHASES. /BPR/
