INFLUENCE OF CALCIUM CHLORIDE ON THE PROPERTIES OF CEMENT MORTARS /IN FRENCH/

ELECTROCHEMICAL MEASUREMENTS WHICH SLIGHTLY MODIFY THE ENVIRONMENT DETERMINED BY THE HYDRATION OF THE CEMENT AROUND THE WIRES, SHOWED THAT 1 + 2% BY WEIGHT OF CALCIUM CHLORIDE WITH RESPECT TO CEMENT, GIVES RISE TO A NEGLIGIBLE CORROSION OF THE WIRES, WHICH IS, IN ANY CASE, LIMITED TO THE FIRST PERIOD OF HARDENING. THIS MAY BE EXPERIMENTALLY EXPLAINED BY THE FACT THAT THE VELOCITY OF FORMATION OF THE SPECIFIC SURFACE OF THE MORTAR IS GREATER WHEN CALCIUM CHLORIDE IS PRESENT, BECAUSE OF THE EFFECT OF THIS SALT ON THE VELOCITY OF HYDRATION OF TRICALCIUM SULFATE. IT FOLLOWS AN INCREASE OF THE COMPACTNESS AND OF THE IMPERMEABILITY OF THE STRUCTURES, OPPOSING THE FREE MOVEMENT OF THE IONS AND THE DIFFUSION OF DEPOLARIZING GASES. /CRIC/FESR/LCPC/RRL/A/
