EFFECTS OF "CHLORIDE FREE" ACCELERATORS ON THE SETTING OF CEMENT AND THE HARDENING OF CONCRETE (IN FRENCH)

WHEN THE ACCELERATION OF CEMENT SETTING OR CONCRETE HARDENING IS REQUIRED, CASES OCCUR WHERE IT IS NEITHER POSSIBLE NOR DESIRABLE TO USE CALCIUM CHLORIDE AS AN ADMIXTURE. AT THE PRESENT STAGE OF THIS STUDY, NONE OF THE "CHLORIDE FREE" ACCELERATORS SEEMS TO COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF A GOOD ACCELERATOR FOR SETTING AND HARDENING. SOME OF THESE PRODUCTS GIVE INDEED A VERY RAPID SETTING AND MAY THUS BE USEFUL IN SPECIAL APPLICATIONS. SOME OTHERS ACCELERATE THE SETTING IN SOME PARTICULAR CONDITIONS BUT REDUCE THE STRENGTH OF THE CONCRETE. /LCPC/A/RRL/
