THE INFLUENCE OF ADMIXTURES IN SILICO-ORGANIC COMPOUNDS (SILICONES) ON THE RESISTANCE TO CRACKING OF LIGHT-WEIGHT CONCRETE (IN FRENCH)

THE INTRODUCTION OF SILICOORGANIC COMPOUNDS, FOR INSTANCE SODIUM ETHYL- AND METHYL- SILICONITE ENABLES THE LIMITS TO BE RAISED ON OPTIMAL WATER CONTENT IN MIXES, TO CONSIDERABLY IMPROVE THEIR COHERENCE (RESISTANCE TO SEGREGATION) WHICH RESULTS IN OBTAINING MORE HOMOGENEOUS CONCRETES WITH LOWER SUSCEPTIBILITY TO CRACKING. SILICOORGANIC ADMIXTURES TRANSFORM THE STRUCTURE OF HARDENING CONCRETE, REDUCES CAPILLARY ACTION OF WATER, AND RAISES THE CRACK-RESISTANCE OF LIGHT-WEIGHT CONCRETES UNDER THE CONDITIONS OF SHRINKAGE AND COMBINED ACTION OF WATER AND FROST. THUS SILICOORGANIC COMPOUNDS ARE RECOMMENDED TO USE IN THE MANUFACTURE OF LIGHT-WEIGHT CONCRETE WALL-PANELS TO PREVENT THEIR CRACKING AND TO INCREASE THEIR DURABILITY. /RRL/LCPC/A/
