INFLUENCE OF RE-VIBRATION ON THE PROPERTIES OF HARDENED CEMENT PASTE AND CONCRETE /IN FRENCH/

ACCORDING TO THE AUTHORS, IT HAS BEEN PROVED THAT RE-VIBRATION OF CONCRETE, CARRIED OUT DURING SETTING, NOT ONLY INCREASES COMPACTION BUT ALSO CANCELS INTERNAL STRESSES CAUSED BY INITIAL SHRINKAGE, THEREFORE SUBSTANTIALLY IMPROVING CONCRETE STRENGTH AND REDUCING FINAL SHRINKAGE, ELASTIC DEFORMATIONS AND CREEP. FOR A GIVEN INCREASE IN COMPRESSION, THE EFFECT OF RE-VIBRATION WAS SHOWN TO BE GREATER FOR CEMENTS WITH A GREATER INITIAL SHRINKAGE. THE INFLUENCE OF THE MINERALOGICAL COMPOSITION WAS ANALYZED BY TESTING PURE CEMENT PASTE; THE INFLUENCE OF AGGREGATES, PROPORTIONING, WATER/CEMENT RATIO, ETC. WAS ANALYZED BY TESTING CONCRETE. INCREASES IN STRENGTH OBTAINED ON THE PURE PASTE VARIED BETWEEN 129 AND 49 PER CENT ACCORDING TO THE TYPE OF CEMENT USED; THE LARGEST INCREASE OCCURS IN A CEMENT RICH IN TRICALCIUM SILICATE WHICH HAS A GREATER INITIAL SHRINKAGE. DECREASES IN SHRINKAGE AND CREEP VARIED FROM 50 TO 15 PER CENT. CONCRETE TESTS SHOWED THE INFLUENCE OF CEMENT/WATER RATIO AND OF THE CEMENT CONTENT ENSURING GOOD WORKABILITY DURING RE-VIBRATION. THE INCREASE IN CONCRETE STRENGTH-LIMITED BY THE CEILING OF AGGREGATE STRENGTH- REACHED ITS MAXIMUM AT 360 DAYS, AND SHRINKAGE AND CREEP DID DECREASE. /LCPC/A/RRL/
