DETERMINATION OF THE HARDNESS OF PLASTERS WITH THE AID OF DRILLING STRENGTH

TESTS WITH MORTARS BELONGING TO THE VARIOUS GROUPS HAVE SHOWN THAT THEIR HARDNESS CAN SUITABLY BE CHARACTERIZED BY MEANS OF THE DRILLING STRENGTH. MORTARS OF GROUP I SHOULD BE TESTED WITH A LOW DRILL CONTACT PRESSURE. THE HARDNESS OF A PLASTER OR RENDERING IS A PROPERTY WHICH DEPENDS ON THE MATERIAL AND ITS STRUCTURE AND WHOSE RELATION TO THE FLEXURAL AND THE COMPRESSIVE STRENGTH IS THEREFORE CONFINED TO THE PARTICULAR CONDITIONS UNDER CONSIDERATION. TESTING THE HARDNESS OF A PLASTER BY THIS METHOD IS NOT POSSIBLE IF THE PLASTER IS EXTREMELY HARD OR IF THE PROPORTION OF COARSE AGGREGATE PARTICLES EXCEEDING 3 MM IN SIZE IS TOO HIGH. /AUTHOR/
