EFFECT OF POLYMORPHISM OF TRICALCIUM SILICATE ON ITS REACTIVITY
EARLY TESTS ON THE STRENGTH OF TRICALCIUM SILICATE PREPARATIONS WERE SUMMARIZED AND COMPARED WITH A NEW TEST SERIES. THE LATTER SERIES WAS DESIGNED TO PINPOINT DIFFERENCES IN STRENGTH DUE TO STRUCTURAL CHANGES IN TRICALCIUM SILICATE. CHEMICAL EFFECTS CAUSED BY FLUORINE USED AS A STABILIZER WERE PREDOMINANT. TENTATIVE CONCLUSIONS INDICATE THAT STRUCTURAL EFFECTS ARE SMALL, EXCEPT FOR THE MONOCLINIC-TRIGONAL CHANGE, WHICH SOMETIMES MAY PRODUCE LOW STRENGTHS.
