CORRELATION BETWEEN STABILITY AND CERTAIN PHYSICAL PROPERTIES OF BITUMINOUS MATERIALS
DATA FROM SEVERAL HUNDRED CLOSED-SYSTEM TRIAXIAL- COMPRESSION TESTS ON THIN SPECIMENS OF BITUMINOUS MIXTURES ARE ANALYZED BY GRAPHICAL METHODS TO OBTAIN THE SIGNIFICANT PHYSICAL PROPERTIES. THESE PROPERTIES ARE THEN TREATED BY STATISTICAL METHODS AND CORRELATION CHARTS CONSTRUCTED FOR SEVERAL PAIRS OF VARIABLES MEASURED IN THE STRESS DIAGRAMS. TWO OF THE MOST-SIGNIFICANT VARIABLES, HVEEM STABILITY AND CRITICAL SHEAR RESISTANCE ON THE SURFACE OF FAILURE, ARE SUBJECTED TO A FORMAL STATISTICAL ANALYSIS IN WHICH QUANTITATIVE INDEXES OF VARIATION AND CORRELATION ARE CALCULATED. /AUTHOR/
