DELAY IN THE APPLICATION OF ASPHALTIC CONCRETE ON A CONCRETE SUBBASE /IN RUSSIAN/

THE PREMATURE COMPACTION OF ASPHALTIC CONCRETE LAID ON A CONCRETE SUB-BASE WHICH HAS NOT YET REACHED ITS MAXIMUM STRENGTH CAN RESULT IN FAILURE. THIS PHENOMENON LED TO THE STUDY OF THE BEHAVIOR OF YOUNG CONCRETE UNDER REPEATED LOADING. CONCRETE BARS WERE SUBJECTED TO REPEATED BENDING STRESSES AT DIFFERENT AGES. AN INVESTIGATION WAS CONDUCTED INTO THE EVOLUTION OF CONCRETE DEFORMABILITY WHICH INCREASES WITH THE NUMBER OF LOADS. THE BEHAVIOR OF LIME-AGGREGATE CONCRETE WAS NOT AS SATISFACTORY THAN THAT OF GRAVE-AGGREGATE CONCRETE. THESE FINDINGS LED TO THE RECOMMENDATION OF THE DELAYED APPLICATION OF ASPHALTIC CONCRETE AND OF TRAFFIC RESTRICTION DURING A CERTAIN PERIOD FOLLOWING APPLICATION. /LCPC/RRL/
