OBSERVATION OF THE EN1 ROAD SECTION BETWEEN MEIRINHAS AND POMBAL (2ND REPORT) /IN PORTUGUESE/

THE RESULTS OF OBSERVATIONS ON THIS SECTION ARE MAINLY INTENDED TO BE COMPARED WITH DATA COLLECTED AFTER THE SECTION HAS BEEN STRENGTHENED AND RESULTS OF OBSERVATIONS ON OTHER SECTIONS. SOME SPECIAL PROBLEMS HAVE BEEN STUDIED SUCH AS THE INFLUENCE OF TRAFFIC AND THAT OF THE SPEED OF MOVING LOADS OVER REBOUND DEFLECTIONS. THE EXPERIMENTAL INFLUENCE LINE OF SETTLEMENT WAS COMPARED WITH THE THEORETICAL INFLUENCE LINE AT THE SURFACE OF AN ELASTIC, SEMI- INDEFINITE, HOMOGENEOUS MEDIUM. AN ANALYSIS WAS MADE OF THE SHAPE OF THE SETTLEMENT, THE POSSIBILITY FOR REBOUND DEFLECTIONS TO CHARACTERIZE THE BEHAVIOUR OF THE POINTS TESTED, AND THE EVOLUTION IN THE RELATION BETWEEN PERMANENT SETTLEMENT AND REBOUND DEFLECTIONS. /LNEC/TRRL/
