THESE CONTROLS, WHEN MOUNTED ON A PAVER IN GOOD CONDITION AND PROPERLY OPERATED ARE CAPABLE OF PRODUCING THE FOLLOWING RESULTS' ONE END OF THE SCREED CAN BE MADE TO FOLLOW ANY TANGIBLE ADJACENT GRADE LINE REFERENCE SUCH AS A STRING LINE, WIRE, CURB, GUTTER, A PREVIOUSLY LAID MAT OR THE CENTER OF A LONG SKI OR TRAVELING STRING LINE TOWED BY THE PAVER. IT WILL PRODUCE A MAT PARALLEL TO AND AT ANY PRESELECTED VERTICAL OFFSET FROM SUCH REFERENCE WITH AN ACCURACY OF NOT TO EXCEED PLUS 1/8 INCH AND IN MOST CASES PLUS 1/16 INCH. THE TRANSVERSE OR SLOPE CONTROL WILL MAINTAIN THE PRESENT TRANSVERSE GRADE TO WITHIN 1/8 PLUS IN 10 FEET OF 1/10 OF 1 PERCENT. ALTHOUGH THESE TOLERANCES ARE MORE THAN ADEQUATE TO MEET ANY EXISTING SPECIFICATIONS, IT SHOULD BE POINTED OUT THAT THE SENSITIVITY OF THESE CONTROLS CAN BE INCREASED OR DECREASED BY A SIMPLE ADJUSTMENT IN THE FIELD. DEVIATIONS FROM THE DESIRED GRADE AND SLOPE APPROACHING ZERO CAN BE OBTAINED IN THE SURFACE BEFORE ROLLING. /NAPA/
