Monorails for use along handling routes and suspension cranes for covering shop areas fall into group of discontinuously operating handling equipment and are made up of similar components; detailed reference is made to standard assemblies including switch points, turntables, and transfers between suspension cranes and suspension tracks, suitable for use by operators wishing to build up their own systems; types of drive and control systems are discussed with special regard to automatic operation; typical applications are included.
