INFLUENCE OF THE RADIATION PATTERN ON ULTRASONIC ATTENUATION MEASUREMENTS OF CONCRETE

ATTENUATION MEASUREMENTS AS PART OF THE NONDESTRUCTIVE TESTING OF CONCRETE WITH ULTRASONICS ARE AT PRESENT GAINING IN INTEREST. THE MEASURED ULTRASONIC ATTENUATION LEVEL IN THE TEST SAMPLE DEPENDS NOT ONLY ON THE ACTUAL ATTENUATION IN THE MATERIAL ITSELF, BUT ALSO ON A NUMBER OF MEASUREMENT INFLUENCING FACTORS, AMONG THEM THE SHAPE OF THE ULTRASONIC PATTERN. THE PRESENTED PAPER ANALYZES THE ULTRASONIC PATTERNS TO BE EXPECTED WHEN TESTING CONCRETE AND DERIVES FEASIBLE METHODS TO ENABLE THE PROPER COMPENSATION FOR THIS ERROR INFLUENCE. /AUTHOR/
