BEARING STRENGTH OF CONCRETE--GEOMETRIC VARIATIONS
BASED ON EXTENSIVE TESTS, EQUATIONS AND DIAGRAMS ARE OBTAINED FOR DERIVING THE LOCAL BEARING STRENGTH OF CONCRETE IN TERMS OF THE CUBE COMPRESSIVE STRENGTH OF CONCRETE. SPECIMENS WERE TESTED IN A 300-KG X 10 TO THE 3RD POWER-KG, THREE-LOADING RANGE, MOHR AND FEDEROFF COMPRESSION AND BENDING MACHINE. THEY WERE LOADED CONTINUOUSLY UNTIL FAILURE. FOR EACH SPECIMEN, THE LOAD AT FIRST CRACK, THE PROGRESS OF CRACKING, THE MODE OF FAILURE, AND THE MAXIMUM LOAD TAKEN WERE DULY NOTED. TESTS CONCERNING THE GEOMETRICAL VARIATIONS, I.E., RELATIVE DIMENSIONS AND SHAPE OF LOAD AREA-STRIP, RECTANGULAR AND SQUARE, HEIGHT OF SPECIMEN AND ECCENTRICITY OF LOADING--UNIAXIAL AND BIAXIAL ARE PRESENTED. /AUTHOR/
