CONTRIBUTION TO THE STUDY OF THERMAL METHODS FOR ACCELERATING THE HARDENING OF CONCRETE. INFRA-RED RADIATION TREATMENT /IN FRENCH/

INDUSTRIAL APPLICATIONS OF THE THERMAL TREATMENT OF CONCRETE BY MEANS OF INFRA-RED RADIATION ARE FEW AND LIMITED TO PANELS THE THICKNESS OF WHICH DOES NOT EXCEED 10 CM. THIS ARTICLE DEALS WITH THE APPLICATION OF THE PROCESS TO PANELS OF GREATER THICKNESS. TESTS WERE CARRIED OUT ON FULL PANELS, 20 CM THICK, CONTAINING SEINE AGGREGATES AND EXPANDED CLAY AGGREGATES. A STUDY IS MADE OF THE MOLD, INFRARED EQUIPMENT AND CONDITIONS NECESSARY FOR OBTAINING A HOMOGENEOUS TREATMENT OF THE CONCRETE SLAB, ESPECIALLY ON THE EDGES OF THE SLAB. THE MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF THE TREATED CONCRETE WERE MEASURED FROM THE TIME THE SLAB WAS TAKEN OUT OF THE MOLD UP TO 90 DAYS. A STUDY WAS MADE OF THE INFLUENCE OF HEATING CONDITIONS ON THE QUALITY OF CONCRETE AT THE TIME OF RELEASE FROM THE MOLD AND ON LONG-TERM QUALITY, THROUGHOUT THE THICKNESS OF THE SLAB AND IN ITS THINNER PARTS. RESULTS SHOWED THAT THE PROCESS WAS ECONOMICALLY JUSTIFIABLE FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF CONCRETE PANELS CONTAINING GRAVEL AGGREGATES. /TRRL/
