DETERMINATION OF EFFECTIVE LENGTH FACTORS FOR SLENDER CONCRETE COLUMNS
SECTION 10.11.3 OF THE 1971 ACI BUILDING CODE REQUIRES THAT THE EFFECTIVE LENGTH FACTOR K FOR SLENDER CONCRETE COLUMNS BE DETERMINE WITH DUE CONSIDERATION OF CRACKING AND REINFORCEMENT ON RELATIVE STIFFNESS. THE REASONS FOR THIS REQUIREMENT ARE OUTLINED AND A CALCULATION PROCEDURE IS PROPOSED WHICH RESULTS IN ACCEPTABLE ACCURACY. /AUTHOR/
