SAFETY TO BRITTLE FAILURE IN PRESTRESSED CONCRETE STRUCTURES WITH BOND

THE CONCEPT OF BRITTLE FRACTURE IS DEFINED AND TYPICAL DEFORMATIONS IN UNDERREINFORCED, NORMALLY REINFORCED, AND OVERREINFORCED BONDED-WIRE PRESTRESSED CONCRETE BEAMS SUBJECTED TO LOADS ARE DISCRIBED. EXPRESSIONS ARE GIVEN FOR DETERMINING THE MOSCH ULTIMATE MOMENT, THE CRACKING MOMENT, AND THEIR RATIO. THE EFFECT OF THE GEOMETRY AND STRENGTH OF THE CROSS- SECTION ON THE RATIO OF THE ULTIMATE MOMENT TO THE CRACKING MOMENT IS INVESTIGATED. /TRRL/
