Kinetic Energy Loss in Impact Action Between Concrete Blocks
The paper presents an analysis of the mechanism of kinetic loss in impact action between concrete blocks, and also the basic method by taking the impact into account when analyzing the structure collapse response. The correlation between the factor of restitution in impact and the factor of kinetic energy loss defined in corresponding references is deduced. Based on the proposed impact model derived from the test and the numerical simulation results, a study is made of an objective determining method of the factor of restitution in impact and the factor of kinetic energy loss. The mass ratio, the initial impact angle, the compressive strength of concrete and the initial impact velocity ratio of concrete blocks are considered in the method, which is the basis for developing a more precise impact model.
