Finite Element Surface-water Model System: Two-Dimensional Depth-Averaged Flow and Sediment Transport Model - FESWMS FST2DH User Reference Guide

The purpose of this user reference guide is to provide the beginner or infrequent two-dimensional (2-D) surface-water modeler with helpful tips on utilizing the Surface-water Modeling System (SMS) and the Finite Element Surface-water Model System (FESWMS). General topics covered in the guide include the following: (1) Understanding the SMS graphical user interface (GUI) and its various components, programs, and applications; (2) Downloading, installing, and registering the SMS software, including how to obtain a password and software updates; (3) Importing background images and topographic data for use in constructing models; (4) Building and running a 2-D surface-water model by following a step-by-step procedure; (5) Managing files and saving project data; (6) Running the FST2DH finite element surface-water model; (7) Troubleshooting problems encountered while modeling; (8) Obtaining technical assistance.
