Real-time simulator of vehicle-infrastructure cooperative system

A real-time simulator was developed to evaluate a vehicle-infrastructure cooperative system to support driving safety. The simulator aims to enable proper evaluation of the target system through simulated driving experiment, by simulating the behaviour of the whole system, including the sensing subsystem, the communication subsystem, and the onboard subsystem, in real time. The behaviour of each subsystem is simulated, considering its performance and the conditions such as sensing accuracy, latency, communication capacity, available area, and errors. Currently the framework of the simulator has been implemented to achieve real-time simulation of an example of a vehicle-infrastructure cooperative system. This paper describes the concept and the architecture of the simulator and current development status. For the covering abstract see ITRD E140665.
