Efforts for Noise Reduction on FASTECH360 High Speed Test Trains
This paper describes research on noise control on Shinkansen high speed trains. Focus is on noise reduction running tests being conducted on FASTECH360 trains. The paper gives an overview of noise sources, countermeasures for noise from pantographs, car bodies, and aerodynamic noise from train heads. Other rolling stock improvements for noise reduction are also discussed.
