Application of continuous, after-sales analysis of driver assistance system utilization to customer-oriented design and integration of new functions
The advent of driver assistance systems has led to new challenges involving several disciplines of vehicle development. The key to success in meeting these challenges lies in knowledge of customer behaviour. A precise understanding of how the user will employ driver assistance in practice is required to uniquely define the parameters of a solution space for vehicle development. This paper presents a novel type of field test to augment classical methods and to create a considerably broader basis for analyzing customer use in real traffic. The procedure is described in detail and the first results generated by analyzing the adaptive cruise control system are presented. For the covering abstract see ITRD E140665.
