Public experiences of and attitudes towards bus travel

This report summarises people's experiences and attitudes towards bus travel in Great Britain, covering access and quality of services, frequency and purpose of bus journeys, how users and non-users rate local bus services, outcomes of expectations, most valued features of bus travel, reasons for infrequent or non-use, improvements which people believe would encourage use, and crime and safety issues. Key findings indicate regular bus use is relatively common, good access and levels of bus use are higher in urban areas, bus users are mainly positive about their experiences, costs of fares and access to advance information about the fares are of concern, infrequent or non-use is because of the perceived greater convenience of car use, and crime and safety concerns are in line with actual experiences.
