PROCUREMENT STRATEGIZING FOR AN ADVANCED METROPOLITAN TRANSPORT MANAGEMENT DEPLOYMENT
Development and deployment of an Advanced Metropolitan Traffic Management(AMTM) system can be a challenge because AMTM systems are a relatively new concept with various procurement issues. To secure an AMTM system, irrespective of the procurement vehicle, the decision must be made for either asingle, large procurement or a set of several smaller ones. Common procurement methodologies, each with their own risks and advantages, include design-bid-build, design-build, qualifications-based, and public-private partnership. Ultimately, each agency should evaluate their own procurement policies to determine what is most manageable and appropriate for their needs. For the covering abstract see E134653.
