Drivers' Preferences for Interface Designs of In-Vehicle Information Systems
Of all In-Vehicle Information Systems (IVISs), Collision Avoidance Warning Systems (CAWSs) and real-time Route Guidance Systems (RGSs) are particularly helpful and attractive to drivers. Previous studies have focused on the individual effects which either CAWS or RGS have on driver behaviour, but it may be necessary to provide a driver with both CAWS and RGS messages at the same time. This study employed focus group discussions to understand driver preferences for combining CAWS and RGS information using in-vehicle audio and visual devices. This study also explored driver preferences regarding volume levels for these two systems. For the covering abstract see ITRD E134653.
