MANAGING THE NETWORK USING TRAVEL INFORMATION
There comes a point where road-building is no-longer a solution to congestion and ways of utilising the road network better need to be investigated. One approach is through information provision; the UK is putting a lot of faith into this and both the Department for Transport (DfT) and the Highways Agency (HA) have produced information strategies. A key role in this will be played by the National Traffic Control Centre. This paper will give an overview of information channels, their uses and restrictions and will give an idea on delivery considerations that should be borne in mind when taking this route. For the covering abstract see ITRD E134653.
