The evaluation of major local authority transport schemes - a guide

This guide provides advice for the evaluation of UK local authority major transport schemes outside London as part of funding applications. The guide explains the background and nature of evaluation and discusses the preparation and management of any evaluation. Details are given of impact and process evaluation and advice is given on the presentation and use of the evaluation results. Appendices present transport scheme objectives, impact data collection techniques, transport and land use modelling, and aspects of the evaluation of regeneration impacts. Case studies are presented on the London congestion charging evaluation, Okehampton by-pass evaluation, Sheffield Supertram evaluation, and the Skye Bridge socio-economic impact study.
