QUANTITATIVE INVESTIGATIONS INTO THE RELATION BETWEEN THE ROUGHNESS AND THE FRICTION PARAMETER OF ROAD PAVEMENTS
QUANTITATIVE UNTERSUCHUNGEN UEBER DEN ZUSAMMENHANG ZWISCHEN DER RAUHIGKEIT UND DEM REIBUNGSBEIWERT VON STRASSENDECKEN
Starting from friction parameters measured with a pendulum instrument (skid resistance tester) it was possible to establish a relation between the srt values and the geometric characteristics of the surface of road pavements. The geometric characteristics were determined purely optically by means of a microscope with an attached scanner and mini-computer. Then followed profile measurement by means of a needle recorder which can be used directly on the road. The most important result of the research was the comprehension and clarification of the influence of the various parameters on the friction coefficient and its determination from the geometric characteristics of the road profile. /TRRL/
