Improving the Manner of Giving ETC Toll Notice to Drivers on the Metropolitan Expressway
Metropolitan Expressway Public Corporation (MEPC) has introduced various kinds of toll measures leveraging ETC such as “ETC prepaid discount”, “road pricing for environment”, and “ETC special short section discount.” Moreover, new toll measures, which consider the time or frequency of usage, are examined as the varied and flexible toll measures utilizing the advantages of ETC. In this kind of environment, night discount toll service limited for ETC (Electronic Toll Collection) vehicles had been introduced for about 4 months, from November 28th, 2003 to March 1st, 2004, as a pilot program (fiscal 2003 pilot program) and it has been re-started from April 27th, 2004 with the simplified and higher discount rate (fiscal 2004 pilot program). In this paper acknowledgment of the toll applying the night discount to on-board unit is shown as well as the outline of toll measures utilizing ETC on the Metropolitan Expressway with its foresight.
