Development of Driving Safety Support Systems (DSSS)
This system has been installed at an intersection where many traffic accidents occurred mainly due to a road environment because it is a downhill road with the view to the front blocked with noise barriers, etc. In particular, rear-end collisions accounted for a significantly high percentage of the traffic accidents. Although such accident prevention measures as road markings and warning signs have been installed, the number of traffic accidents remained unchanged. Therefore, it was urgently required to develop and implement a prompt and effective safety measure. In consideration of this situation, the Driving Safety Support System (DSSS) has been developed to inform passing drivers on nearby roads about the traffic situation and other things on the road ahead in real time and have them recognize hazards in advance in order to create a driving environment in which they can drive without undue pressures.
