United States 2002 Economic Census. Transportation: 2002 Commodity Flow Survey

The economic census is the major source of facts about the structure and functioning of the Nation's economy. This commodity flow survey produces data on the movement of goods in the United States. It provides information on commodities shipped, their value, weight, and mode of transportation, as well as the origin and destination of shipments of manufacturing, mining, wholesale, and select retail establishments. This report contains background information on the 2002 Commodity Flow Survey and then presents detailed tabular results on shipment characteristics by mode of transportation, commodity, distance shipped, and shipment weight. Modes of transportation covered include air, water, highways (trucking), railroads, and pipelines.
