RISK MANAGEMENT IN MARINE TRANSPORTATION OF LNG

Current knowledge of controlling the hazards associated with LNG marine transportation is briefly surveyed, and safety concepts that must be considered during the design stage, construction and operation of LNG tankers are examined in detail, and grouped around what is described as a risk management system. A method for systematic risk management is presented. Its objectives are to provide documentation for rational discussions of safety matters, and to ensure the cost-effective solutions to safety problems.
