SAFETY EVALUATION OF THE BOLT FOR ALUMINIUM TRAIN CAR-BODY USE

In year 2000, KRRI (Korea Railroad Research Institute) developed an aluminium train car-body to save manufacturing expenses as well as to increase efficiency to recycle used material. One of the problems to process the aluminium car-body manufacturing is to verify connection safety between underframe and heavy railway equipment. In this paper, new type bolt and nut are evaluated for safety by the finite element method. Based on UIC Regulation for fastening railway equipment, the loads in service condition and buffing impact condition with three difference directions such as longitudinal, transverse and vertical direction are applied on the bolt.
