IMPRESSED CURRENT CATHODIC PROTECTION FOR LARGE OFFSHORE PLATFORMS

It is concluded that impressed current cathodic protection systems are far more economical than sacrificial systems, and that past failures of impressed current systems have been largely due to mechanical failures or obsolete design concepts. Some typical case histories from offshore structures in Gulf of Mexico are presented.
