A NEW REFERENCE DEVICE TO CHECK THE STIFFNESS AND THE PHASE ANGLE OF DYNAMICAL RHEOMETERS

A study, undertaken with industrial and university partners and financed by the European Community, made possible to work out a system of control and measurement of the stiffness and phase angle according to the frequency and the temperature. The principle of this control cell named DYNAREF results from model of KELVIN-VOIGHT. It is the assembly of a spring of gauged stiffness with a piston in a bath of oil of defined viscosity (annular pumping). This new device replaces the sample and is well adapted to the instruments characterizing bitumen binders whose viscosity and modulus are analysed in a large frequency range of several decades. It thus allows to periodically control the correct measurements of its instrument. For the covering abstract see ITRD E121480.
