CHANGE MANAGEMENT: USING ORGANIZATION DEVELOPMENT TO SHAPE AND DEFINE YOUR ORGANIZATION
This paper will discuss the practicality of organization development (OD) as a road map to facilitate organizational improvement. Incorporating OD as part of the strategic process of improving organizational effectiveness could potentially assist the organization in meeting financial objectives, improved processes, and change organizational behaviors. The inclusion of a racially diverse workforce in the change process as a critical component of OD will also be addressed in the paper. The OD change model presented in this paper identifies how organizations need to get ready for the impending change effort. This model uses these three dimensions; the message, interpersonal and social dynamics, and influence strategies to prepare organizations for the impending change effort. The article then moves to the importance of understanding what interventions are and how they are applicable to the organization. Finally, the article will discuss the potential of OD in achieving a sustained competitive advantage.
