STUDY ON MANAGEMENT TECHNIQUE OF EXPRESSWAY WHILE HEAVY RAIN
It is necessary to develop and maintain road networks that are durable enough to withstand disasters such as earthquakes and torrential rains. This requires that a more careful consideration than ever be taken for construction and maintenance of expressways to prevent disasters. The Japan Highway Public Corporation (JH) conducted analyses on the relationship between recent rainfalls and disasters and reviewed the standards for disaster prevention during rain. This report describes the results of the analyses and explains JH's disaster prevention system and the procedures to determine new criteria for disaster prevention.
