SPECIFICATIONS AS SUPPORTER OF THE BUILDING MATERIALS DECREE
HET BESTEK ALS DRAGER VAN HET BOUWSTOFFENBESLUIT
In the Netherlands the Building Materials Decree came into effect fully on 1 July 1999. The decree imposes environmental protection conditions on the (re)use of soil, and primary and secondary stony materials in civil engineering work. This has consequences for all parties involved, from construction employers to executive contractors. Specifications that bring all parties together is a good means of meeting the requirements of the Building Materials Decree and providing the necessary clarity. This article deals with the importance of specifications with respect to the requirements imposed by the Building Materials Decree.
