INVESTING IN THE ENVIRONMENT

The Associated General Contractors (AGC) of Washington has joined with a diverse group of local partners to support community-based salmon restoration efforts across Washington state. The partnership, People for Salmon, is providing the tools necessary to measure the results of restoration projects and is helping develop a statewide infrastructure to organize volunteers around successful restoration projects. The salmon habitat can be improved by replacing substandard culverts with either larger culverts or bridges. People for Salmon is currently supporting seven habitat restoration projects, including several culvert replacements, a fish passage, a side channel creation, the placement of log structures, and a bridge installation. The AGC of Washington is also protecting the salmon habitat by working to improve state building codes and worksite regulations.
