BRADFORD OPENS ITS GUIDED BUSWAY
The new A641 Manchester Road Quality Bus Initiative in Bradford, UK is the third guided busway opened by the West Yorkshire PTE. The busway projects are a partnership between the West Yorkshire PTE Metro, the City Councils of Leeds and Bradford and the bus operators FirstGroup and Arriva. The Bradford scheme has 2.3 km of guided busway and 1.4 km of conventional bus lanes. It operates predominantly in one direction. The guided busway is situated in the middle of a dual carriageway. Bus shelters, pedestrian crossings, footbridges and pavements have been revamped as part of the scheme. The only operator running on the Bradford guideway is FirstGroup. The Manchester Road scheme is part of the South Bradford Integrated Transport Scheme.
