MODELS FOR ROAD EQUIPMENT LISTS AND FILES

This report gives models for lists and files necessary to plan road equipment such as culverts, lighting columns and sign supports. Old models may be used as well. The targets of these models are: 1. to make it easier to use performance requirements instead of descriptive ones 2. to postpone the choosing of a product to a stage when the prices are known 3. to make it easier to transport information between different programs and between organisations. These files may be used to ask offers in the following way: The designer fills the location and the performance requirements in the file. Then the contractors or the manufacturers who make an offer till the rest of the file. After construction the files will be updated if necessary and then sent to the maintenance organisation. The Excel-table for sign support computes the stiffness necessary for each support after the designer has given the dimensions of the signs and information about wind conditions and other loads.
