MULTI-JURISDICTIONAL SIGNAL COORDINATION IN ACTION - CITY OF NAPERVILLE AND DUPAGE COUNTY, ILLINOIS
Multi-jurisdictional coordination of traffic signals offers motorists (users) the benefits of reduced congestion and delay and reduced vehicle emissions and offers governmental agencies increased traffic capacity in arterial corridors without the capital costs of adding lanes. Multi-jurisdictional coordination of traffic signals has been successfully accomplished by a City (Naperville, Illinois) and DuPage County for a period of 10 years based upon the simple premise "agreeing" to "agree" in order to better serve motorists (customers).
