FLEXURAL STRENGTH OF BEAMS STRENGTHENED WITH FRP PLATE
The bond between the plate and the beam is often assumed as perfect in many numerical models for reinforced concrete (RC) beams that have been strengthened in flexure with fiber reinforced plastic (FRP) plate. The paper develops and incorporates into the existing MARC finite element software package a type of interface element to simulate the bond behavior between the concrete surface and the FRP plate in order to capture the delamination failure mode. The paper compares the finite element analysis results with published experimental data.
