TIRE PRESSURE AND PAVEMENT DAMAGE
The paper first discusses some statistics and trends in the tire industry, It then addresses several specific points regarding tire inflation pressures and pavement loadings. An attempt is also made to clarify some misunderstandings or perhaps lack of information relating to the subject. The significant performance advantages offered by radials for truckers and to low profile designs for the higher speed, long distance carriers are brought up as a positive trend in the North American markets. The expectation is that the above will alleviate some of the pavement loading concerns.
