DYNAMIC LOADING OF ROAD PAVEMENTS
The paper describes an experiment using a 4-axle articulated heavy goods vehicle, instrumented to measure instantaneous changes in load applied to a road by the tires of the semi-trailer. The measurements of applied wheel load and strain in the pavement permitted an investigation of the effects of vehicle dynamics and pavement profile on dynamic loading and pavement performance.
