UIC COMFORT TESTS: INVESTIGATION OF RIDE COMFORT AND COMFORT DISTURBANCE ON TRANSITION AND CIRCULAR CURVES
Though past studies have explored ride comfort of passenger trains, these studies looked at rides on a straight track only. Specialists in the area of train ride comfort felt that studies needed to be performed that examined ride comfort of trains on curved tracks. Circular curves and curve transitions were needed. In addition, curved tracks were needed to provoke nausea, which can occur on a tilting train. This paper reports on the study undertaken to examine the aforementioned areas.
