AEC INTERNET PROJECT MANAGEMENT TOOLS: THE GOOD, THE BAD, AND THE FUTURE...
The paper discusses the activity in the area of Internet-based project management (PM) for the Architectural, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) industry. It identifies some of the benefits such as the recognizing by organizations the medium's potential to manage information, communicate and collaborate, as well as test the many tools and services being offered. It is also necessary to recognize that many users are not ready for the latest web-based PM tools and techniques. The paper identifies what works and what does not work, and discusses the need for the industry to set common standards and interfaces to utilize the Internet and other emerging technologies to leverage the benefits and opportunities available.
